 Book Description:

#1 bestselling author Maya Banks continues her suspenseful and steamy Slow Burn series with this second book—a twisting tale featuring a strong yet vulnerable heroine in danger and the sexy alpha hero who must save her.

Her only link lies in the one thing that sets her apart from everyone else—telekinetic powers. Protected by her adoptive parents and hidden from the public to keep her gift secret, Ari is raised in the lap of luxury, and isolation. That is, until someone begins threatening her life.

Beau Devereaux is no stranger to the strange. As the head of Deveraux Security, he’s more than familiar with the realities of physic powers. So when a family friend approaches him about protecting his daughter, he’s more than ready to jump on board. What Beau isn’t prepared for is the extent of his attraction to his beautiful and powerful client. What began as a simple assignment, just another job, quickly turns personal as Beau discovers he’ll do anything at all to protect Ari. Even if it costs him his life.

Book Blitz & Review: Deceived (Soul Keeper #1) by L.A. Starkey

Book Description:

They say a soul is the immaterial essence, the animating principle, the actuating cause of an individual life.

But what if you had to share yours with the one person you hated the most?

The soul mate principle states that for every one soul there is another that will recognize its match, hence creating the perfect union.

But what if you had two soul mates, which would you choose?

What if your choices had eternal ramification?

Deceived, the debut novel in the Soul Keeper Series, is a modern day love story about the implications of having more than one soul mate, and having to choose between the two of them. The decisions of the gods has left the next generation, their heirs, torn between fate and reality, and the balance of the future hangs in anticipation of what’s to come.

Book Review:

Deceived is the first book in the new Soul Keeper series.  The story centers around a confused teenage girl, who is unknowingly the center of a prophecy.  She thought she had a rough life growing up, and my guess is it’s going to get a lot tougher.  As a pawn to the gods, she is caught between two soulmates who are both incredibly gorgeous.  Who wouldn’t want that?  Well, that is until you realize the price that has to be paid to connect with your soulmate.

An interesting tale that at times seemed to drag a little.  It was definitely just the beginning of the story to come. However, it was extremely touching and at times brought tears to my eyes.  I was slightly disappointed because it ends with a bit a cliffhanger, but it also had enough of a twist for me to want to read more.  Definitely an enjoyable read that has caught my attention.

Aimee’s wedding is supposed to turn out perfect. Her dress, her fiancé and the location—the idyllic holiday ranch in Brazil—are perfect.

But all Aimee’s plans come crashing down when the private jet that’s taking her from the U.S. to the ranch—where her fiancé awaits her—defects mid-flight and the pilot is forced to perform an emergency landing in the heart of the Amazon rainforest.

With no way to reach civilisation, being rescued is Aimee and Tristan’s—the pilot—only hope. A slim one that slowly withers away, desperation taking its place. Because death wanders in the jungle under many forms: starvation, diseases. Beasts.
As Aimee and Tristan fight to find ways to survive, they grow closer. Together they discover that facing old, inner agonies carved by painful pasts takes just as much courage, if not even more, than facing the rainforest.

Despite her devotion to her fiancé, Aimee can’t hide her feelings for Tristan—the man for whom she’s slowly becoming everything. You can hide many things in the rainforest. But not lies. Or love.

Withering Hope is the story of a man who desperately needs forgiveness and the woman who brings him hope. It is a story in which hope births wings and blooms into a love that is as beautiful and intense as it is forbidden

Book Review:

Withering Hope is an understatement! Imagine you’re on your way to meet you fiancé for your perfect wedding in the perfect location, with your perfect dress only to never arrive. Instead your plane crashes in the heart of the Amazon Rain Forest. To top it off no one can find you because the black box was destroyed and the pilot had to steer off course prior to the crash.  Hope, yeah I can see why it’s withering and I am not even done. They have a measly amount of food that will barely last the day, maybe 2 at most.  In addition, there is no water and most of the supplies were lost in the crash.

Tristan (Pilot) and Aimee fight to survive starvation and what lurks in the jungle.  Death knocks on their door more than once, will they make it? They quickly become a team working together to survive.  As weeks and months pass, their bond becomes stronger and stronger.  Has their bond become too strong?

The emotional turmoil this story brings, despair, longing, fear, dread, sadness, and lastly love, you will feel like you’re living it with them. This was an original story and a page turner from page one. It captivated me and I just needed to finish it to see what happened, so I read it in one night. How did it end, I can’t even!

Do yourself a favor and read it.
