Book Description:

Tech mogul and workaholic Wolf Evan Luparell has little time for distractions but takes a break for his brother’s wedding in South Dakota. When asked to escort another wedding attendee from the airport to Los Lobos, he agrees. Then he meets the curvy spitfire, and she ignores him.

Designer and Wolf Mina Carver didn’t mean to be rude to the handsome, glowering man claiming to be her ride, but she was busy working. Now she must endure a ride to the Black Hills with the cranky but sexy Dominant Wolf. Unexpected mating energy sparks between them, but still—should she dismiss, or kiss him?

Kisses win and they agree upon a no-strings fling. But with each wedding activity throwing them together, and their powerful chemistry and mate compatibility complicating matters, can two workaholics truly have their fun then walk away?

Review:

Evan Luparell needs to be at his brother’s wedding like he needs a whole in his head.  Worse he has to escort another wedding attendee from the airport who practically ignores him.  He does not have time for this.  He loves his brother but sparing 1 hour let alone a whole weekend from his business is killing him. He has so much to do.  Well that was until he realized this escort who is annoying as hell maybe his mate and to top it off she is looking for a weekend fling.

Both workaholics, both not looking for anything more but can they help the mating attraction.  This story takes you on that journey of two people fated but devoted to their work.  Can they juggle both, do they even want to?

Story was an interesting light paranormal romance. I liked the characters and the roles each played to make this story.   Definitely a great beach read.

Excerpt:

Evan tipped his head and eyed the ceiling. Prompt replies, punctual people. Striking deals and hitting deadlines. These items made his world tick. Not loitering around a miniscule airport pulling a Waiting for Godot moment on infinite repeat for a no-show, flakey designer from California.

God grant him patience and balls of steel when he showed up without the designer and the all-important wedding dress, because his future sister-in-law Darci would certainly be unhappy. He’d have to beg a favor from his assistant, have her snag a couture dress, and fly it ASAP to the Rapid City airport. He could afford a gown from some famous designer in Chicago or New York, something likely superior to whatever his soon-to-be sister-in-law’s no-name friend had created. Right? Shit, he hoped women’s fashion proved so easy.

He took a deep fortifying breath and froze. Airport smells assailed his senses—the sharp tang of bleach and lemon-scented cleaners, the floral perfume from Rental Car Girl who eyed him like a piece of candy. Black coffee, donuts, fried fast food, and under it all, the distinct musk of wolf.

Female wolf.

She smelled damn good. His wolf perked up, and his legs propelled him toward the empty baggage claim, where one bright-pink suitcase covered in Hello Kitty stickers sat, unclaimed, on the unmoving L-shaped conveyor belt. Her scent, stronger here, socked his gut, and his gaze shot to the corner.

The chaos around the woman stunned him silent. Large, paper coffee cup, half-eaten banana, and a quarter of a powdered doughnut perched on a brown paper bag next to her. Crumbs splattered the linoleum and the woman’s long-sleeved blue blouse in a thick layer of white, sugary dust. On her other side, two pink garment bags lay like corpses, along with a bubblegum-pink unzipped duffel as long as her outstretched, denim-clad legs. Some of the bag’s contents—pads of drawing paper and large swaths of fabric—protruded over the opening, the fabric splaying over her legs in a rainbow-colored blanket. Her feet peeked out of the mess, encased in sparkling pink UGGs. Good grief, sequins? She smacked her shiny boots together in a poor imitation of Dorothy and bobbed her head from side to side in time to some music only she seemed to hear. Her shoulder-length red hair, the color of ripe dark cherries—his favorite fruit—gleamed under the harsh airport lighting and curtained most her face from his view, save a pert nose and small chin, both speckled with a generous amount of freckles.

He’d always liked freckles.

Clearing his throat, he stepped closer, but she didn’t flinch in surprise or look up. Her attention remained on the tablet on her lap, the stylus between her pale, freckled fingers swiping without hesitation over her screen. Her extreme focus reminded him of his sister Lexi in one of her artistic frenzies. The resemblance ended there.

While his sister took after the rest of their tall, lean, and tan family, this woman seemed the polar opposite—pale, petite, curvy, and freckled. His preferred type. A flicker of interest stirred in his gut. Did she have those cute little spots on the rest of her? Speckled fur when in her wolf form? His wolf huffed his interest in finding out, but Jasmine the Oblivious Designer didn’t acknowledge his presence.

His fascination faded, replaced by renewed irritation. She damn well should have scented and noticed his wolf by now, and she should have waited at their agreed upon rendezvous point. She should not be sitting on the dirty linoleum of an airport, lost in her work. Didn’t she realize the dangers of ignoring her surroundings?

He positioned himself right in front of her wiggly, booted feet. “Excuse me, J—”

“Sh.” She raised her arm and flicked her hand in the universal get lost gesture.

He gaped at her. “Excuse me?”

Another wave of her hand while her stylus streaked across her tablet screen with the other. “Not interested.”

Nice voice. Low and husky. Her attitude, on the other hand…. “But—”

“Go away.” Her velvet voice carried a stubborn edge.

In other circumstances, he would’ve admired her strength. But he’d wasted copious amounts of time hunting for the clearly inconsiderate and irresponsible female. “Fine. Get your own damn ride to Los Lobos. Jasmine.”

Review: Somewhere in Time: The Fine Art of Deception Series By Alyssa Richards

SomewhereinTime_cover

On a mission to put her past finally behind her, Addison must team up with her greatest enemy. But will she lose the love of her life in the process of finding the truth about her family?

The wait is finally over! Alyssa Richards is back with SOMEWHERE IN TIME, the second novel in The Fine Art of Deception series. Just when all seems well in Addison Montgomery’s world—she’s happy and found the love of her life—life throws one heck of a wrench into things. Addison must choose whether to save the love of her life or finally find the truth about her family’s past.

Synopsis:

Addison Montgomery has finally found love with the man of her dreams, Blake Greenwood, and is ready to live another lifetime of happiness with him. But the morning they’re supposed to bring closure to their dark, violent past, all chances of a happily-ever-after turn as dead as the ghosts she sees on a daily basis.

Now Addie must team up with her greatest enemy, embracing her not-quite-perfect gift of reading art psychically. If she succeeds, she will finally learn the truth behind her father’s and grandfather’s disappearances. If she fails, every chance at love she’s ever hoped for will be destroyed. But one thing is clear: she has to choose between saving Blake or her family, and there’s no way she can ever have both.

Review

Addison and Blake are back from Paris to bring closure and put Otto behind bars. Something goes wrong which forces Addison to possibly have to team up with her biggest enemy.  He will never let her go and she knows it. He will use her ability to read objects history for authentication until it kills her.  She will always be on the run.  She has to find a way to stop him but at what stake.  Losing Blake her soul mate of at least two of her last lifetimes or her family.  Otto as scheming as ever always seems to be one step ahead.

If you enjoy the art world with a twist of paranormal romance and suspense then I recommend ‘Somewhere in Time’ to be added to your TBR.  Richards brings us back in time to our history of some of our best artists and weaves it into today’s world with suspense and heart break. Richards does a great job bringing the history of the characters, their story and their world to life as Addison feels her way using her ability to see the history of objects as she looks for clues to stop Otto and save her family. The connection between Addison and Blake is unbreakable, proven for that matter through their past lifetimes, They are soul mates forever and you feel their love throughout the story.  The story was suspensfull and action packed. I can’t wait for book 3.

Marked by Moonlight (A Shifter-Witch Novel) (Volume 1) by Karen Victoria Tavares

One tragic night can change your life forever.   A tragedy that opened a door to a world Professor Brizza Lynn Greer never knew existed. This same world her own family kept her from.  A world full of supernatral and magic.  Professor Brizza Lynn Greer wants vengence for that one tragic night. She however must first come to terms with this new world first, the issue that her family kept this from her and now to top it off her own magic that has been bound now coming to light.

The story was interesting, It started off with a bang but then slowed down throughout until the end.  The slowness was fine it still held my interested it just took a little while to get there. The accpetance of the world and the power was very quick for the character it was suprising,  I would like to read the next installment to see how the story and characters develop more. All in all good read.

Book Review: The Fine Art of Deception by Alyssa Richards

Adobe Photoshop PDF

One touch is all it takes and Adeline knows an object’s entire history…

Get lost in this sexy and suspenseful debut novel from Alyssa Richards, where an art appraiser has a gift for seeing the history of an object with just a touch, tries to put her gifts and her troubled past behind her.  Fans are calling THE FINE ART OF DECEPTION: UNDOING TIME, “enthralling” and “a new take on paranormal romance that you just can’t put down!”

Synoposis: Art appraiser Adeline Montgomery just wants a normal life. One where she can ignore the vicious ghosts who follow her. One where she’s free from her “gift” of touching an object and seeing the owner’s deepest secrets. And one where she can fall in love without having all of the above get in the way.

But when tall, dark, and dangerous gallery owner Blake Greenwood enters her life, normal is the last thing she’s feeling. The man has more secrets than the priceless art he sells, giving Adeline’s quest for normal no chance. That, and he may just hold the key to uncovering the truth behind her father’s unexplained disappearance.

Despite her paranormal gifts warning her to stay away, she feels an inexplicable, captivating fascination for him, something that goes deeper than attraction. There’s something between them that’s older than time, and if she can learn to give him her trust, it may just save her life.

Review:

Imagine the gift of being able to read someone’s darkest secrets by the slightest touch of your hand.  For art appraiser Addison Montgomery, a gift well not so much.   Addison yearns for a normal life where she can touch anything and not worry about being sucked into the past history of the objects owner. Knowing all their thoughts, their conversations, what they were doing.  Nothing is left untold.   She can’t even have a normal relationship or fall in love, how can she knowing about past girlfriends and all the details, would you?

Addison starts a new job where she runs into gallery owner Blake Greenwood. She is immediately drawn to him but not just because of his looks it is deeper than that, something old. It could also be the ghost that lingers when he is near.  She tries to get a glimpse of his past but comes up empty and not just empty almost a written script of his past.   How is that possible who is he, she can’t help being captivated by him even though every instinct tells her to stay away. Can she trust him and trust him to save her life.

I was very drawn to the characters. Richards did an excellent job weaving you into their world whether it was the good guy or the bad guy you just wanted to know what they were thinking, doing and their next move.  The mysteries of the art definitely made the story more intriguing and added another layer to the story.

The exchange between Blake and Addison and how deep and long it ran, even though they just met each other was a great angle.   Is there such a thing, I certainly hope so and can’t wait to find out more.  I definitely recommend.

Book Review – Awakening The Fire by Ally Shields

Awakening the Fire

Book Description:

It’s her first murder case…

Twenty-three-year-old Ari Calin has sworn to keep the peace in the Olde Town district of Riverdale, and most of the time the Otherworlders cooperate. The vampires, werewolves and other magical creatures go about their business, living side by side with humans, until the foreign wolves arrive and a virtual reality drug hits the streets. Violence erupts, and Ari needs more than her witch fire, weapons, and potions to stop the madness.

Joining forces with a human police officer, Lt. Ryan Foster, and a way-too-sexy vampire singer, Andreas De Luca, Ari hunts for the enemy—from the vampire strip clubs to the caverns under the city. Every step draws Ari and her companions deeper into an old feud and closer to the brink of a supernatural war.

 Excerpt :

(Despite the friction and mistrust between them, Ari has come to Andreas’s supper club to ask for his help on her murder case.)

The vampire’s coal-black eyes found her and silken threads of magic wrapped her in a soft web. The room faded away. She floated as in a dream, warm and safe. A place to linger forever. Her witch magic began to sing in concert with his, and Ari called it back to her. The effort brought her out of his web with a jolt.

Damn, how strong was he? She wrapped her magical aura around her. As long as she kept it in place, his magic was held at bay. Then, mercifully, the song was over. Andreas bowed to a wildly applauding audience and left the stage.

“Good evening.” Startled, she stared at him.

“Uh, hello.” How did he move so fast? He produced a polite smile.

“If you will come this way.” He waved a hand toward a hallway on the left.

Ari hesitated. A meeting in private? She hadn’t anticipated that.

His brows rose. “We have twenty minutes.”

Swallowing her doubts, Ari preceded him down the hall. It was better this way, she told herself. Fewer interruptions. At least she knew her time parameters. He ushered her past four closed doors, not stopping until they reached an exit door at the end. He touched a security panel, the door opened, and they stepped into a paved lane leading to the rear parking lot. Dense trees lined the opposite side of the lane. Total privacy.

The night was pleasantly cool. The crisp cleanness of fall filled the air. Ari hung back and watched her companion as he stopped in the middle of the lane. Andreas arched his shoulders and threw back his head, breathing deeply. For a moment all Ari could think about was how sexy he looked.

“I hope you don’t mind talking out here. It has been a long evening, and I needed the fresh air.”

“Not at all. It’s nice.” She looked up at the stars, pinpoints in an uncluttered sky, to keep from looking at him. “What was that last song you sang?”

“An Italian love song. Did you enjoy it?”

“Amazing.”

He turned to look at her. “It was, or I was?” His voice invited a broader interpretation.

She smiled. “Both,” she said, not bothering to hedge. “But who’s fishing for compliments now?”

“Touché.” His familiar laugh came then, rich and intimate, strangely companionable.

 Review:

Ari a witch guardian has the ability of witch fire that she has no trouble using to protect Riverdale’s Olde Town especially being up against Vampires, werewolves and otherworlders.  That’s exactly what she did when she ran into a werewolf attempting an attack on a couple of teenagers.   Something however is not right, why was the werewolf even here?   To top it off a sexy vampire Andreas Deluca also ends up at the scene.   A murder of a young woman leads to more mystery along with werewolves who are trying to threaten the peace.

The characters drew me in. Ari was strong, Independent and not afraid to get to the truth. The dynamics between the vamps, humans and witches and yes I can’t forget the werewolves really made the story come alive.  Ally really created a world that swooped you right up.  I can’t wait to see what happens in the next book.

I highly recommend

Book Review – Taken By A Dragon by Felicity Heaton

takenbyadragon

Book Description:

Possessed by a need to save a beautiful Amazon warrior from the vision he witnessed, Loke snatched her from the midst of the battle between the Third and Fifth realm of the demons, and carried her to his home deep in the black mountains of Hell to protect her. But as the fierce little female awakens, he finds she’s anything but grateful, and his dragon instincts roar to life to warn she might be more to him than an enemy—she might be his fated female.

Anais remembers meeting a handsome warrior in the heat of battle, a man who was her enemy but who looked at her with eyes that held dark heat and wicked promises. When she wakes to find that same dragon shifter has taken her captive, desire is the last thing on her mind, but escaping him to return to Archangel, the hunter organisation she works for, sounds less than appealing when he reveals the reason he took her—to stop her from dying.

Can Loke protect Anais from the dangers of his realm and how far will he go to save her from the future he keeps witnessing? Can Anais resist the fierce attraction that burns between them as hot as fire and stay true to Archangel or will her heart be taken by the dragon?

Book Review:

Loke, a dragon shifter, snatches Anais straight out of battle in an attempt to save her life.  What he doesn’t expect is the attraction that he will feel for this little Amazon.  Anais, who is set on escape and finding her friends is slowly taken with this gentle giant, but can it every work.

Steamy and hot … this is romance at it’s best.  You will enjoy the relationship from Loke and Anais from page one till the end.   That’s not to say that it won’t have some ups and downs.  There were times I found myself angry at Anais and not so sure she was worthy of Loke.  All I can say about Loke is he can do no wrong.

This is the seventh book in the Eternal Mates series and I have to admit that I have not read all of them.  However, this is consistent with the ones I have.  Just as endearing and definitely worth it.

Review: Heart of Rocky by Kelsey Jordan

Book Description

The Takeover
Tor Omar James, King of the North African pride, needs one woman if he has any hope of keeping his sanity – Anise, his Soul’s Mate. There’s only one problem: she’s pregnant by Derrick, Tor of the United States pride. Anise is caught between the love that every Lycan covets and the motherly devotion to the son she would sacrifice so much for. Can Omar survive the takeover of the US pride and convince Anise that he is more man than lion?

The Defender
Asim Tyson, the Defender of the Hafiz, is fighting off the insanity of his longing after losing his Soul’s Mate in battle. Unfortunately, his self-centered existence results in the gross neglect of his people when they need him the most. When Harmony appears in his life, he is forced to make a choice. Should he resist the lure of Harmony’s caustic melody or embrace his weakness in order to keep her safe?

Review

The Takeover

Can you imagine a word that you knew who your soul mate was? How easy would that be? There it’s that one over there. Forget about all the heart ache at having to find that one person.

Omar James knew who his soul mate was, the problem was she was married to another man and having his baby. To get to her he had to take over the US pride. Their Tor was his mates husband, Derek and may I add a total schmuck. How Derek treated Anise while she was delivering his baby was despicable. I wanted to go through the book and strangle him myself. I had stronger words in mind however not very PG. Anise, Omar’s soul mate and married to Derrick knows that Omar is coming to take over, she is happy to see Derrick go to his death but at what cost, her sons? Omar not only has to win the take over but worse win his mates trust over her son.

The Defender:

Now imagine finding that one person for you, then losing them or not being able to have them.   Maybe not knowing you have a soul mate is a way to go after all.

Tyson lost his soul mate and has not been the same since.  In Tyson’s world not being with your soul mate can make you insane.   In Tyson’s case insane, not really, self absorbed maybe.  Ok more than maybe, he has neglected his people for way too long.  It has taken a woman named Harmony to open his eyes and see whats going on around him.  Is that enough though.

Omar and Tyson were strong powerful men fighting for their soul mates in one form or another Equally important the woman in their lives were a force to be reckoned with themselves even though they had gotten themselves in bad situations.   Anise with the wrong man and Harmony the wrong place at the wrong time. Both not letting the situations get the best of them, which trust me once you read you wonder if they can emotionally be the same again. Heart of Rocky was not one story but two novellas together.  You really did not need to read one to understand the other. The plots were well laid out with an easy flow.  At times Kelsey Jordan told you rather than showed you which could get a little confusing.  All in all both stories were interesting and different and I liked them, you would enjoy as well.

Review:

Andromeda Reynolds (aka Andie) is on the run from the alpha’s son of her old Dare, Kyle Carstairs. If she stayed, Kyle for sure would try again to mate her by force.  He failed this time and even though she is a skilled fighter she can’t take the chance he wins the next time. Kyle winning actually might mean her death.   She had to leave and try and seek asylum with the Keller Dare.  Due to her high status the only way the Carstairs have no right to her is if she marries the Keller Alpha, Jaxon Keller.

Convincing the Keller alpha is a different story.  She can’t even get to him. She has to convince AJ, one of the Keller alpha protectors that she is worthy of asylum. He challenges her to the core. Andie senses he is keeping secrets but she is determined to show him she is smart and has the skills to stay.

This is my first time reading Abigail Owen. Owen made me love her characters. Andie is not only a bad ass fighter, she is incredibly smart and witty too. She was a force to be reckon with and was my favorite. I actually think my favorite part was AJ making her run and thinking she would not last long at all.   Hrs and hrs and many miles later she was still going.  What made it funny was she showed him up and did not even have to say a word. Even funnier he hates to run. AJ was every bit an alpha as the story portrayed him to be with just enough mushiness.  The sparks between them were flying but Andie could not do anything about it she had to stick to her plan and marry the Keller alpha.  It was getting harder and harder to do because AJ was making it very difficult.

I definitely recommend this book and cannot wait for the next.   I may even pick up and try one of her other series.

A #1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER

NEVER BEFORE PUBLISHED

INCLUDES A BONUS EXCERPT FROM CHRISTINE FEEHAN’S GHOSTWALKER NOVEL, NIGHT GAME

Book Review:

Wyatt Fontenot is part of a secret military experiment, he had been altered with catlike abilities. He came home to his Nonny to find she had been bullied by a group of men on the other side of the bayou. He knew the place and who was running it, but what did they have to do with his Nonny and who on earth would bully a little old woman.  Something was not adding up. Wyatt was on a mission to find out and to scare the men who pushed her down. What he did not expect was finding Pepper and what came with her.

Pepper also altered but not by choice was running for her life and the life of the child she was trying to save.   In the process they got hurt, she needed help.  She had to get to the house across the Bayou.  The old woman who lived there would leave blankets and food on her porch at night.   The old woman also known as Nonny had no idea what was out there, but she left the items anyway. Pepper knew she would help but the help she ended up getting was not what she expected and from whom.

A fight for truth, for life and most of all freedom.  What is a life if you can’t live it freely? Feehan portrayed exactly that in this book.   Pepper needed help it was not just for her but for three little girls who also was given no choice.   What they did to these girls and are still doing because Pepper could only run with one is unimaginable.  Pepper who was already strong is now stronger with Wyatt and his crew by her side.  They will stop at nothing to get those girls out, even if it means their own lives.

The passion between Wyatt and Pepper was intense to say the least.  This is where the story fell a little. The passion was too intense for this story and Wyatt’s domineering and jealous personality added no value.   The story in itself pulled you in, but these parts pulled you out.

Viper Game was a not a favorite however It is a series that I recommend

Owen will do what he needs too to protect her and find out what this male hellcat truly wants with Cait.    The passion between them is ready to explode they can’t help the draw to each other. In a heated passion the unthinkable happens, their fate has been sealed but with a large price.

This is my first Felicity Heaton book.  Coming in at book 6 had me worried a little but it did not seem to be a problem at all. This can be read as a standalone.   I had fun reading this book and now knowing that some characters did guest appearances I definitely plan on going back to read from book one.  I am not sure if Heaton’s style is to send strong messages but this one packed a punch for woman’s equal right to choose and to be treated equal, but not too much that it over powered the story. In fact Cait herself was not a damsel in distress she was a cat who definitely could take care of herself. I enjoyed the plot the twist and turns and most of all the romance and passion in this story. I look forward to going back and starting from the beginning, I have added a new author to my reading list.
